The fall
family picnic is our annual start of the year “get to know you event”. Come
enjoy a picnic style dinner here at school and meet your child’s teacher
and other families here in school. – 4:30 to 5:30pm
'Back to
school' is your opportunity to learn about your child's classroom and familiarize
yourself with the Montessori materials. Teachers will discuss how their classrooms
work and how your child will spend their day. This event is for adults only.
Childcare will not be available. We recommend that all parents attend this
event, especially families who are new to the school.
A field
trip to Stamford nature center is offered to children aged 4 years and above.
Children are bused to Stamford and spend the morning exploring the nature
center with their classmates. Parents send a cold packed lunch as the children
will enjoy picnic lunch prior to returning to school. Children are typically
back in school by 1:00pm. Children who are eligible to go on the trip but
are not enrolled on this day are welcome to attend until 1:00pm at no additional
childcare charge. The trip costs $20. A permission form will be sent home
approximately 1 week prior to the trip. The form must be completed and returned
to the office, along with payment, prior to the trip. For safety purposes
children on the trip must wear a ‘Montessori Red T-Shirt’. These shirts are

On School
picture day the Irving Simon photo company comes to capture individual, class
and whole school portraits of our children. Parents have the option of purchasing
a selection of prints that the photographer will provide. Children not enrolled
on this day are welcome to attend until 1:00pm at no additional charge.
On this
special day we invite our families to join us for our Halloween Parade. The
event starts at 10:00am with the children singing their favorite Halloween
songs. Followed immediately by a costume parade in our playground. The children
then return to their classrooms for trick or treating and classroom parties.
Party food signup sheets will be posted in the classrooms for those who wish
to contribute. Children not enrolled on this day are welcome to attend until
1:00pm at no additional charge.
Parent teacher
conferences are offered between the dates shown. A sign up sheet will be
posted in your child’s classroom detailing the times at which conferences
will be available.
On the Wednesday
before Thanksgiving we host our own Montessori Thanksgiving feast. All the
children sit down together to a traditional Turkey Dinner provided by the
school. The feast is preceded by the children singing traditional Thanksgiving
songs and reciting poetry. Children not enrolled on this day are welcome
to attend until 1:00pm at no additional charge. Due to space constraints
this is a child only event.
Our Annual
holiday show takes place on the first Friday in December at the SUNY Purchase
performing arts center. All students participate in this multi-cultural celebration
of the December Holidays. Children are bused to SUNY Purchase for both a
Thursday dress rehearsal and the Friday show. A lunch reception follows the
show. Signup sheets will be posted in the classrooms for those who wish to
contribute food items. School closes at 1:00pm. A permission form will be
sent home approximately 4 weeks prior to the concert. The form must be completed
and returned to the office as soon as possible. Children aged under 4 years
will require a car seat on the bus. This car seat will remain on the bus
overnight (Thurs-Fri). Parents should make appropriate plans for safe transport
of their child at that time. Car seats will be returned to you at SUNY Purchase
at 9:30am on the day of the concert, please make arrangements to collect
your car seat at that time.
Local kids
entertainer ‘Java John’ brings his high energy musical show to the Montessori
Children's Room. Children love his high energy performances. For more information
about Java John visit him online. Children not enrolled on this day are welcome
to attend until 1:00pm at no additional charge.

Our formal
end of year Graduation event take place here at Montessori Children's Room.
This cap & gown event see’s all children perform and graduate to the next
stage of their academic lives. Starting at 10:00am, this event is followed
by a picnic lunch. Families will be able to sign up to contribute food items
for the lunch. Extended family and friends are welcome. School closes at
1:00pm.
